Business Meeting – November 2024

  • December 5th meeting change – Norse Mythology – Ragnarok
  • January meetings:

    • 30th Honey Girl Meadery – Dinner and social – OFF SITE
  • Fighter practices –  have moved to the church for the winter
  • Sir Walter Raleigh Ball – spiked, Murphy school secured, Honey girl will be serving again, Simon band leader, will revisit kitchen (was under construction last year), budget to be present to group by Dec 12 meeting
  • Field Trips – ideas for off day field trips that anyone can join (Bennet place, Stagville, Textile museum, Old Salem, Duke homestead – once a month suggested)
  • Kingdom news – unevent Dec 7th, Toy Tourney Dec 13 in SC
  • Barony – baronial candidate meet and greet Sunday – will be online as well
  • Bank switch – info has been sent to kingdom exchequer
  • Chatelaine –
    • garb trailer over stuffed – Laurel has offered to go through the garb and feast gear, take excess duplicates (voted approved) to be voted on later (have a fundraiser for the canton at a Kingdom event (Laurel will man it), or donate to another canton (or do the fundraiser and then donate what is left)
    • trailer also has 2 pavilions, possibly sell the blue green one
    • Laurel suggested purchasing rolling lockable tubs to be stored in baronial pavilion, if room, and having canton heraldry on it
  • Birthday 2024:
    • waiting on some receipts to get final tally

    • Wayne calling site coordinator regarding the difference we were charged for event versus Ursus Bay from week before ($300 difference)
    • issues – last minute changes by MIC without discussing with autocrat, fire pit management (was left to someone who didn’t put fire out at end of night – plan to designate a “fire marshal” for future events) 
    • site issues – all round tables have bad legs (barely usable), farm at main entrance had event and then ended (open and closed gate confusing for our event attendees), need better trash bins (future collapsable wire trash cans planned for)
    • buy chalk board easle signs suggested, as well as staked ropes for delineating areas
  • Next year Bday Idea:
    • The Quest – 60 year anniversary of society, days of D & D –
      • bocci ball with 20 sided die
      • Dungeon party – people chose in advance skills their character will be play (healer, fighter, etc)
      • art competition – dragons from different cultures
    • Proposals needed – single vs multi day, with different venues for group to vote on
    • Wayne going ahead and spiking event to secure Veterans day weekend at Optimist Farm – can change autocrat and venue in future
